Holidays: off piste and racing

I have been working hard this winter. I have been teaching a huge variety of clients from lovely children skiing for the first time to great fun ladies groups and some instructor training and examination as well. I love the variety!

Since I have chosen a profession that combines my profession with my passion, I am lucky as every day seems like a holiday. But I do also take holidays! My winter holidays this year included a trip with my whole family to Murren in Switzerland during the Inferno week when we competed in the Kandahar ski club races. It was great to do some racing, especially in the resort that I grew up skiing in. My sister, Tessa, won the Giant Slalom and I won the Slalom and my brother, Gregor, was second in the Giant Slalom and third in the Slalom. We were all lucky to grow up skiing and our parents are the most enthusiastic skiers ever – they have passed on their enthusiasm and skills to us all!

My other holiday days have been in Val d’Isere – I love the skiing here and take every opportunity I can to ski the mountain. There has been some amazing piste skiing with grippy, hero snow and some great off piste with all the snow we have had this winter. I love both!

I have also been loving my new Scott kit this winter – check it out in the photos!

Enjoy your skiing!

Winter has arrived!!

Yey the winter has started and the snow is falling all over the Alps!! Here is a photo taken by a friend in Val d’Isere this morning

I am in Saas Fee for a month of coaching ski racing to fellow ski instructors, masters ski racers and ski enthusiasts. We have had 4 weeks of perfect race training conditions – firm snow and sun – so i have seen an impressive progression in skiing performances from everyone. We had a relaxed day today enjoying the powder snow!!

Im driving to Val d’Isere at the weekend – Im looking forward to getting back there and settling in for the winter, catching up with friends and skiing the amazing mountain!

Keep the snow falling!

Snow dance

Here in the Alps we are all doing the snow dance, many resorts have not had new snow for a month, but here in Val d’Isere THE SKIING IS AMAZING!! Put on your favorite piste skis to rip up the pistes or enjoy some chalky off-piste adventures or go for a ski tour to find some untouched snow. It is all out there!! I have been loving the sun, wearing my shades and topping up my goggle-mark tan with a smile on my face!

Tip of the day: Get your skis serviced so that when you hit the odd patch of ice you maintain your balance with the grip from your sharp edges!

Have a great ski!

It has been wonderfully rewarding hard work, as we have seen our clients improve their skiing, fitness and understanding while working towards achieving their personal goals.
